Howl’oween at Sherwood Dog Park in Paso Robles will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Dogs and their families can trick-or-treat and costumes are encouraged but optional. The pet costume contest is free and open to kids and adults of all ages and their pets. The contest will be held at noon with prizes for the winners.
Hot cider and coffee will be served; bake sale items will be available for purchase. Family photos will be available for a $10 donation.

The Santa Ynez Valley Arabian Horse Association’s Sage Hill Open Breed Competitive Trail Ride will be held Nov. 2 to 4 at Live Oak Camp off Highway 154 near Lake Cachuma.
The Sage Hill Ride, sanctioned by the North American Trail Conference, features open, competitive pleasure and novice divisions. Open riders cover 50 to 60 miles in the two-day period, and competitive pleasure and novice riders cover 35 to 40 miles. A one-day novice ride covers approximately 23 miles. There is also a 12-mile introductory ride for people who want to learn more about the sport of competitive trail riding and horse camping.

The Cal Poly cat program is hosting its annual Adopt-A-Cat Weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 2 to 4. It will be at Petsmart on Froom Ranch Way in San Luis Obispo.
