Equestrians and mountain bikes are welcome to join Carrot Fest weekend at Montaña de Oro State Park this weekend. The intent: to camp out, repair and build trails and ride horses and mountain bikes together.
The trail work will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday and the trail ride and hike will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday.
Meet at the horse camp at Montaña de Oro. The event is hosted by San Luis Obispo Parks, Open Space and Trails Foundation and the Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers.

A “K9s For Felines” Dog Walk Around the Lake will be from 7 a.m. to noon June 18 at Atascadero Lake. With a donation/registration fee of $25, you will receive a colorful bandana for your dog and a T-shirt for you. Also, get your pet microchipped for only $15. All proceeds benefit the homeless cats at North County Humane Society. Register at the south end of the lake, in the picnic area.

The Friends of the Morro Bay Police Department are holding a benefit K9 Walk-a-Thon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 18 at Morro Rock in Morro Bay. The event also includes police K9 demonstrations, food, beverages, adoptable dogs, dog carnival, prizes, contests, vendors and more. The event will raise funds to help bring a police K9 to the Morro Bay Police Department. For more information, call 772-6225.
