This year’s Arroyo Grande Valley Harvest Festival will feature Wiener Dog Races.
Races begin at 1:15 p.m. Sept. 25. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon the day of the races; entry cost is $5, but $10 the day of the races. This year, the race will benefit the Foxy Doxy Dachshund Rescue. For rules and registration information, visit www.agharvestfestival.com.
In honor of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will hold a blessing of the animals (large and small) at its 8 and 10:15 a.m. services Oct. 3.
All animals and their friends are welcome to attend. If an animal cannot make a personal visit, its owner may bring a picture to be blessed. Please bring a leash or carrier for your four-legged, feathered or crawling friend.

SLO-4-PUPS will host its ninth anniversary celebration and new entryway dedication at the El Chorro Dog Park, located across from Cuesta College, from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 3. The event will include a complimentary barbecue, dog treats, anniversary cake and educational exhibits. For more information, call 772-1971.
The Feline Network has cats and kittens available for adoption from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Petco in the Madonna Plaza Shopping Center in San Luis Obispo. Cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested and vaccinated before adoption. The adoption fee is $60 for one or $80 for two. A free vet examination is included.
