‘Sometimes being a handsome, friendly, middle-aged cat isn’t enough, especially when the shelter is teeming with kittens.
“After five months, even Squeak, an orange tabby with outrageously green eyes, is still homeless.
“Squeak loves to curl up on a lap, making him the perfect excuse to go nowhere at all. Also, Squeak’s fine with other cats and is comfortable with cat-friendly dogs.
“This weekend, Squeak and dozens of adorable kittens will be on the front lawn of the San Luis Obispo County Animal Shelter ready to start a new life. This is because shelter volunteers and staff will be hosting a Kittenpalooza Adopt-A-Pet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
“To help reduce overcrowding at the shelter, prospective adopters at Kittenpalooza will have the opportunity to adopt two felines — two kittens, two adults or mix-and-match — for the price of one.
“All cats and kittens will have basic vaccinations and be FELV/FIV tested (kittens receive free vaccinations/test when of age), microchipped, altered, eligible for a free veterinarian check, and have a new collar and ID tag. Each will also come with a cardboard carrier.
“If you’d like to meet Squeak, call his foster mom at 771-9375.
“Or get best of both worlds: Go to the Kittenpalooza to adopt Squeak and a goofy kitten for the price of one. Then you and Squeak can cozy up while enjoying the antics of a kitten not yet old enough to appreciate the joys of a warm lap.”
