Attendees at this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in New York City on April 10 will get a taste of some Paso Robles wines as part of an exclusive sponsorship between the Hall of Fame and six local wineries.
Adelaida Cellars, Castoro Cellars, Cypher Winery, Hope Family Wines, Jada Vineyard & Winery and Lone Madrone wineries have each donated between six and seven cases of wine for the event, Adelaida Cellars Hospitality Manager Pati Coelho said.
Each case holds 12 bottles, with a bottle averaging about $40, she said — meaning the wineries have donated approximately $20,000 in wine all together, not including the cost of shipping the crates to New York.
The donated wines will be the only wines poured at the event, which is expected to draw more than 18,000 attendees, including performers Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, KISS, Nirvana, Linda Ronstadt and Yusuf Islam, aka Cat Stevens.
Never miss a local story.
Coelho organized a similar sponsorship through a mutual acquaintance for last year’s smaller induction ceremony, where only Adelaida Cellars wines were poured. This year, when it was time to organize the wine menu, event organizers reached out to Coelho to see if Adelaida would be interested in another sponsorship, she said.
Because this year’s venue is larger than the last — the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., has about 18,100 seats, compared with slightly more than 7,000 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, where the 2013 event was held — Coelho worked with the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance to select other wineries to be featured at the event as well.
