A four-day Paso Robles festival last fall dedicated to the Central Coast’s small-production winemakers raised $10,000 for the Cal Poly Wine and Viticulture program, festival organizers announced Thursday.
The donation will support the purchase of a new spectrophotometer so Cal Poly winemaking students can “measure a variety of wine chemistry components critical to the production of superior wines,” the statement said.
The Garagiste Festival in November featured more than 48 artisan winemakers from San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties pouring almost 150 wines and more than 30 varietals. Its next festival is planned for Feb. 16 in Solvang. It will also benefit the Cal Poly program.
