Though he’s just 18, Chase Emery is no bubble gum pop musician. A fan of the classics – which for him can be the Rolling Stones or an act as recent as the Dave Matthews Band -- he also embraces the modern meld of rock, hip-hop and soul that has made households names of performers like Jason Mraz and G. Love.
This EP is short – it features just three songs – and can be purchased only through iTunes. But it shows promise for Emery, a confident singer who also plays guitar and keyboards and seems to have a knack for melody. The trio of songs here feature many tempo changes and different sounds without being overly convoluted or overdetermined. To hear samples of this EP, go to sanluisobispo.com
