On his web site, rapper Misplaced (Matt Saiz) lists influences that range from Eminem and Run DMC to Tom Waits and Van Morrison. But Eminem clearly influences his music the most.
Misplaced’s deliberate but sharp-tongued vocals spew out angry, sardonic lyrics that convey his bleak view of a society rife with racism, corporate thievery and estrangement. This CD features several guest artists, and Misplaced uses a variety of samples that include everything from the typical orchestral strings to the lesser-used acoustic guitar.
There is gratuitous profanity here (on every track, in fact), and numerous self references border on boisterous. But Misplaced has a knack for hip hop.
Unhappy with the current music scene, Misplaced started his own label, Nomad Records, so he can do it his way. And like Eminem, he hopes to produce others.
