Local CD Pick: "Bill Collector," Bloody Heads

By Patrick S. Pemberton
ppemberton@thetribunenews.com

When a bill collector called, Bloody Heads singer Caleb Nichols told him he didn't have any money. But Nichols, feeling friendly despite the harassment, told the caller to check out his band's MySpace page. Little did he know that the bill collector would start stalking him with e-mails, text messages and phone calls. Ironically, Nichols had just finished writing a song about a lonely bill collector -- which is this EP's title track.

The Heads offer stripped-down guitar rock paired with sardonic lyrics. Nichols leads the band with sharp vocals, while drummer Joshua Barnhart offers loose harmonies that accentuate verses. To hear a sample of this CD, visit sanluisobispo.com.
