Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro will return to the Central Coast this summer.
Shimabukuro will perform Aug. 15 at the Performing Arts Center in San Luis Obispo.
Known for his creative arrangements and expert playing, Shimabukuro entered the public spotlight in 2006, when a YouTube video of him playing George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" went viral. His repertoire ranges from Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” to Franz Schubert’s “Ave Maria.”
The subject of the 2012 documentary “Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings,” the ukulele player is a frequent visitor to the Central Coast. He played the Performing Arts Center in 2005, 2012 and 2014, and performed at Live Oak Music Festival in northern Santa Barbara County in 2007.
Never miss a local story.
