The four top-level VIP tickets to the Lady Gaga concert in San Jose on June 3 are good for stage-side seating in what’s known as the “Artpop zone,” the highest of highest of four levels of premium seating, and backstage access. Gaga donated the tickets personally early this month, according Remar Sutton of the Hearst Castle Preservation Foundation.
Similar tickets frequently sell from $1,000 to $1,500 each, according to various websites.
The foundation grants wishes for children with life-threatening diseases in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. The tickets will go to the highest bidder in a live auction at a golf tournament May 16 in Santa Maria.
“We’re extremely excited to have such a donation, benefiting such a great cause,” said Jared Bailey, tournament host. “It’s all for the kids, and it shows (Gaga’s) support for our area and these kids in need.”
The five-time Grammy winner’s San Jose show is part of a May to November international tour supporting her third studio album, “Artpop.” She filmed a video for “G.U.Y.” (for “girl under you”), one of the album’s songs, at Hearst Castle in February.
Released March 22, the nearly 12-minute video had already been viewed 35 million times on YouTube as of Thursday.
Gaga also shot videos on water conservation and about Hearst Castle during her visit. The conservation video is expected to be released in the coming week. Editing of the Castle video has not yet begun.
Sutton said that Gaga “is excited that her young fans are excited about the Castle.”
The Castle’s partly drained iconic Neptune Pool was topped off for the video with water donated by the Hearst Ranch. After the video shoot, the leaky pool was gradually drained, with the water going to irrigate Castle landscaping, which would have been watered with Hearst Ranch spring water in any case.
Make-A-Wish organizers hope to raise $30,000, enough to fulfill six wishes, at the fourth annual Golf for Wishes tournament at the Santa Maria Country Club. The entry fee of $175 per player or $700 per foursome includes dinner and access to live and silent auctions. Tickets for dinner only are $40, including the auctions.
