Arts Obispo, the San Luis Obispo County Arts Council, is seeking a new executive director.
Atascadero resident Jenna Hartzell, who has headed the nonprofit arts organization since June 2013, is stepping down at the end of February. News of her departure comes as Arts Obispo is ramping up for its annual fundraiser, Arts Obispo Honors, on Jan. 31.
“I’ve worked really hard to get this organization looking good and functioning the way an arts council is supposed to function,” said Hartzell, who also spent three years as Arts Obispo’s program director. “I’m really proud of what I’ve done.”
Starting March 2, Hartzell will serve as director of customer service at the historic Cass House property in Cayucos under its new owners, Christa Hozie and Traci Nickson. (The sisters also own Brown Butter Cookie Co. in Cayucos and Paso Robles.)
“I was approached with an amazing opportunity, and I just couldn’t say no for my family’s sake,” explained Hartzell, whose family includes husband Don Hartzell and 13-month-old son Callahan.
She wants to stay involved with Arts Obispo as a volunteer.
In the meantime, the organization is currently accepting applications for the executive director position through Feb. 13.
