The Cuesta College Art Gallery is being named the Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery in honor of $250,000 gift from the Harold J. Miossi charitable trust.
The Cuesta College Foundation received the donation specifically to enhance the role of the college’s art gallery in the community.
Miossi’s donation will fund capital improvements, technology upgrades and lighting at the gallery. The college also plans to add operating hours and exhibits.
“We are thrilled to receive this gift,” said Margaret Korisheli, chair of the Fine Arts Department. “It will expand our connection to the campus and community, thereby bringing in new and diverse visitors. Increasing gallery engagement and support to ensure a vibrant gallery program for future generations are keystones for the planned outreach and promotion.”
A formal naming ceremony will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday during the opening reception of the Biennial Cuesta College Art Faculty Exhibition.
