'I’m ready for the holidays to come,” someone said to me when daylight saving time ended. Not me. Not ready. No way.
But that doesn’t stop me from making a list of the holiday craft shows I’d like to check out around the county. Browsing hand-made items is a great way to get into the spirit of the season. (Keep in mind, these are just some of them!)
Art Center Morro Bay’s “Winter Fair and Juried Craft Show” runs from noon to 4 p.m. daily through Dec. 31 at 835 Main St. in Morro Bay. Members are showing ornaments, jewelry, cards, photos, ceramics and fine art. Area glass artists, wood turners, and ceramic artists are also participating.
Jewelry artist Nancy Sadja was gallery sitting the afternoon I dropped in. She calls her necklaces, earrings and bracelets Jewels of Endearment and works with embossed and painted metals, semi-precious gemstones, crystals and pearls.

Seeing Barbara Flynn’s stoneware pots was bittersweet. The Los Osos artist and history lover died last month and combined those two passions to make functional pieces.
I was also attracted to Jade Herrera and John Goodell’s paintings of San Luis Obispo scenes — a house on Chorro Street and the Madonna Inn, respectively.
The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art’s Craft Art Market from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Nov. 20-Dec. 31 will include Atascadero mixed media artist Shata. She converts plastic wine decanters into colorful and versatile indoor solar night lights or outdoor solar garden lights. She will donate proceeds to the San Luis Obispo Children’s Museum to fund classes for children to create solar art.
The 34th Annual Central Coast Craft Fair and Boutique at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in San Luis Obispo calls itself the largest hand-crafted-only show on the Central Coast. It features contemporary and country crafters and artisans and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 29 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 30.
The Santa Margarita Library Holiday Craft Faire is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 23 in the community center at the corner of Murphy and I streets and features 22 artists and a book and bake sale.
The Garden Farms holiday craft faire is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at 17490 Poplar Ave. in Atascadero. Ten percent of the proceeds will benefit Santa Margarita Elementary School arts and music programs.
More than 40 Central Coast artists will be featured at the Gallery at the Network’s “Artful Holiday Gift Show” Nov. 29 through Jan. 31 at 778 Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo. Guest artists and artisans include Emily Jagger, Will and Chris Carlton, Sheri Klein and Maggie Pickering.
“Little Treasures” runs through Dec. 30 at Art Central Gallery, 1329 Monterey St., San Luis Obispo. Two- and three-dimensional gifts by local artists are $100 or less.
A crafters show featuring glass, wood, ceramics and jewelry runs through Nov. 29 at Gallery at Marina Square, 601 Embarcadero, Morro Bay.
