The 25th annual Prefix 927 Art Show is coming up this weekend with non-traditional, on-and-off-the-wall art by local artists for fun, thought provocation and to raise funds for a good cause.
The art show is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 13, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at the Veterans Memorial Building, 1000 Main St. A donation of $3 is requested for admission.
A kick-off party from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday features live entertainment with The Mudskippers, non-traditional fun, wine, nibbles and the awards ceremony, hosted by Art Van Rhyn. Admission to that is $15.
Proceeds help fund the Allied Arts Association scholarship fund.
Allied Arts is an association of artists of every genre, art lovers, patrons and volunteers. Its mission is to foster, encourage and promote both the visual and performance arts in this area. Allied Arts’ members are interested in the vitality of the arts in people’s lives and in the community.
Although many members have extraordinary artistic talent, some find satisfaction in supporting the arts by their contributions to scholarship funds and the various creative projects sponsored by Allied Arts. All share a common interest and appreciation of the arts.
Allied Arts fosters, encourages and promotes the arts by providing an Artreach program in the schools, scholarships in music and dance, art competitions, art workshops, and displays the works of member artists at the Cambria Center for the Arts (CCA) at 1350 Main Street in the Old Grammar School, which also houses Coast Unified School District offices.
Membership in Allied Arts starts at as little as $30 a year. For details, go to www.ArtistsOfCam bria.com or call 927-8190.
