Advertising Assistant-Cambria

The Cambrian (a weekly newspaper of The Tribune) has an immediate opening for a 30-hour-per-week Advertising Assistant to provide clerical and sales support to an account executive. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The successful applicant will efficiently handle a multitude of duties in our busy office, including data entry, customer service, ad tracking and reporting, payment processing, and general receptionist responsibilities. This is a fast-paced position, requiring someone who is good at multi-tasking, problem solving and collaborating with others. The position interacts frequently with customers by phone and in the office. Successful applicants will have at least two years experience working with the public, will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and will have demonstrated success in a previous administrative role directly interacting with customers. AA or bachelor's degree desirable. Experience in a related field such as media, communications, real estate or recruitment a plus.

Real Time News Reporter/Web Producer

One of California's best small dailies seeks a quick, assertive reporter/web producer to cover a variety of breaking news and trend-of-the-day stories in San Luis Obispo. The reporter/web producer will also create videos and do Facebook Live; actively participate in social media on their work accounts as well as on the main Tribune accounts; and post stories, galleries and videos to the website, sanluisobispo.com.

As a real-time news reporter, the person will be responsible for writing and/or compiling lightning-fast stories and posts about breaking news, local politics, business, entertainment, sports and lifestyle news that is driving the conversation online – or will be driving it a few minutes from now. The stories could be the latest big development in an election, breaking news such as a car crash, or even a listicle.

A successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and/or equivalent experience in a related field and will be highly motivated with a propensity toward working independently and under deadline pressure. Experience in headline writing, and knowledge of AP style and SEO techniques are a plus. Familiarity with CCI NewsGate is preferred but not required. The typical schedule for this position would be 2 to 11 p.m., and it could include Saturday or Sunday shifts.

Sales Coordinator

The Tribune has an opening for a customer focused sales coordinator to support sales initiatives in our Audience Department. The Sales Coordinator will develop and execute upon marketing initiatives designed to grow home delivery and single copy sales of the newspaper and our digital edition. He/she will also assist with event coordination and set up and will work with vendors to maximize opportunities to reach sales goals. This position includes field work to set up retail displays and news rack marketing materials. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues, backing up other functions in the division including customer service.

This is a full time position requiring someone who is good at problem solving, flexible in the face of change and proficient with Microsoft Office. California Drivers license and dependable vehicle required. Previous experience in sales and/or sales merchandising; experience as sales coordinator or in other administrative positions a plus.

Account Executives partner with local businesses to provide innovative digital and print marketing solutions via our vast portfolio of products.
