Comments (0) | Two longtime local families are bringing the shore inland through a new venture called Pier 46 Seafood. The fish market, slated to open this Wednesday next to Trader Joe’s in Templeton, will sell fresh fish and shellfish, as well as live shellfish from Morro Bay, Avila Beach, Santa Barbara, San Diego and San Francisco.
The business is a partnership by Tony DeGarimore of Paso Robles and Eric and Jennifer Gonzales of Templeton.
The three believe they are tapping into a needed niche in the North County.
“This way, customers don’t have to waste the fuel to drive to Morro Bay or over the Grade to Avila for their seafood,” DeGarimore said.
The 1,300 square-foot space will also offer a take-out menu for dishes such as fish tacos, grilled seafood and clam chowder.
DeGarimore, former owner of Atascadero wholesaler Central Coast Seafood, is the half-brother of Giovanni DeGarimore, owner of Giovanni’s Fish Market waterfront eatery in
Morro Bay.
Giovanni Comin, Tony De-
Garimore’s stepbrother, purchased the wholesale business for an undisclosed amount in 2007, Tony DeGarimore said.
Pier 46, a name chosen for its location off Highway 46, is designed with modern touches, Tony DeGarimore said.
Eight employees will staff the shop.
