Heat advisory issued for this weekend

The county Public Health Department is warning residents to take proper precautions as triple-digit temperatures are expected this weekend.

Department officials recommend people drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids and, whenever possible schedule outdoor activities for early morning or late evening. Air conditioning is considered the best protective factor against heat-related illness and death, according to the department.

The elderly, very young, and people suffering from mental illness or chronic disease are considered high-risk. Symptoms of heat stroke include heavy sweating, paleness, muscle cramps, weakness, dizziness, nausea or vomiting.

For more information, call you medical provider or the health department at 781-5500.
