Fifth District supervisor candidate Debbie Arnold has announced the backing of several present and former law enforcement leaders in the June 3 primary.
Sheriff Pat Hedges, former Paso Robles Police Dennis Cassidy, former San Luis Obispo Police Chief Jim Gardiner, and Assistant CHP Coastal Division Commander Dwight Goggins are supporting Arnold.
“We need common sense leaders like Debbie Arnold who understand that protecting citizens from gangs and drugs is the most important ‘quality of life’ issue in the county today.” Cassidy said.
Arnold said if she is elected she will “ensure that we make public safety – including funding the anti-gang task force – a top priority.”
Debbie Arnold, a Pozo rancher and former business owner, has a degree in early childhood development from Cuesta College. She is a former aide to Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee and former Supervisor Mike Ryan.
She is running against incumbent Jim Patterson, who defeated Ryan in 2004.
The Fifth District includes Atascadero, Pozo, Santa Margarita, California City, Creston, and parts of San Luis Obispo.
