Supervisor candidates Jerry Lenthall, Harry Ovitt, and Debbie Arnold have won the endorsement of the Home Builders Association of the Central Coast in the June 3 election.
Incumbents Ovitt and Lenthall and challenger Arnold “recognize that meeting the housing challenges of today and tomorrow requires balancing competing interests and making sure that we really plan for and meet the current and long-term needs for all segments of our society,” said Maury Froman, the association’s president.
The association “believes they respect property rights and that they want to encourage the private sector to meet our housing and infrastructure needs without unnecessary regulations and costs, said Urban McLellan, chairman of the association’s political action committee.
Lenthall is running against Cal Poly teacher Adam Hill in the Third District; Ovitt faces Paso Robles Mayor Frank Mecham in the First District; and Arnold is challenging incumbent Jim Patterson in the Fifth District.
The association, which represents 250 businesses with 34,500 employees working on the Central Coast, interviewed all six candidates.
