UPDATE: Grandson of missing Cayucos woman charged with her murder

Matthew Levine

The grandson of a missing Cayucos woman was arrested on suspicion of murder after he told authorities her body might be in the area of Ragged Point.

Sheriff’s investigators were searching that area Wednesday but had not yet found the body of 84-year-old Dorothy Vivian Autrey, who was reported missing Feb. 21 by her grandson, Matthew Levine.

Levine was booked at County Jail at 12:08 a.m. today for the investigation of murder after he went to the sheriff’s department around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday with his attorney and gave investigators information that led them to Ragged Point.

“We’re not clear at this particular point where the body is,” said sheriff’s spokesman Rob Bryn at a press conference Wednesday. “We have investigators in the Ragged Point area. We had them there last night.”

Levine allegedly killed Autrey at her home on Hacienda Way within the first 24 hours that she was missing, Bryn said.

Investigators would not discuss motive, what led to the killing, if a weapon was used or what Levine told them.
