Climate change is making poison oak stronger

Not only are increased amounts of CO2 producing record high atmospheric and oceanographic temperatures, they’re also causing changes in plant growth. For instance, the Toxicodendron family that encompasses poison oak, ivy and sumac produce greater amounts of urushiol oil — which causes the rash and itching — when there are larger amounts of CO2.
