On Monday, the Camp Roberts Historical Museum will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Memorial Day. Admission is free.
The Lighthouse Community Church at 13th and L streets is getting a facelift. Starting this week, the building is being sandblasted and repainted and the brickwork updated.
The San Miguel Advisory Council advises the county Planning Department and the Board of Supervisors on issues relating to land use, public services and community growth. Council members are elected by the registered voters who live within area boundaries, which include the town of San Miguel south to Wellsona Road, west to Camp Roberts, east to part of Independence Ranch in Hog Canyon and north to the Monterey County line.
A premier fundraiser, the Wine Experiencia, will be presented at Mission San Miguel on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. to benefit the continued restoration and preservation of one of Californias historical structures. There will be wine and food tasting, a silent auction, live entertainment, artists, artisans and guided tours.
On March 30, Bandy J. Smith and Jodee Rowe were appointed to fill two vacancies on the San Miguel school board to complete the terms of Charlie Brooks and Rob Roberson. In November, both seats will be open for election to new four-year terms.
The old metal barn near the alley on 13th Street is being extensively redone. The roof is off, and the entire west side is open. Back in the days of World War II, it was a restaurant. In the late 1940s, it was a blacksmiths shop. Its been used for storage for years, but there are new plans in the works to put it to use.
On May 5, the Friends of Mission San Miguel will present Wine Experiencia 2012 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the inner garden at the Mission.
Sagebrush Days is a-comin on April 21! The Vendors Faire starts early at 8 a.m. and goes through 2 p.m. with all kinds of good stuff for sale. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. going south through town from 14th Street around Fr. Reginald Park by the mission and back again.
Easter Week services at Old Mission San Miguel will begin this weekend on Palm Sunday. There will be a procession from the parish center at the 11 a.m. Mass.
About 50 people from San Luis Obispo and Monterey counties attended the public workshop hosted by San Luis Obispo County and Camp Roberts to discuss a joint land-use study now under way.
