About a dozen wounded veterans will be in Pismo Beach this weekend to learn or relearn how to surf.
The event, known as “Camp Surf,” is organized by local amputee surfing champion Rodney Roller.
Some participants have lost limbs or been burned while serving overseas; all hope to be catching waves in Pismo’s surf this weekend, said cofounder Dana Cummings.
Participants will get lessons on the southside of Pismo pier this Friday and Saturday. The surfers will be out from about 8 a. m. to noon both days.
