Crowds gathered in Shell Beach on Saturday as musicians competed at the Old Vienna Restaurant’s 2008 Squeezebox Square Off.
Accordionists faced off in a Battle of the Bellows, with some proceeds from the event benefiting the Parkinson’s Alliance, which helps fund research of the disease in California.
They were judged by a panel of professional musicians and community members, according to event organizers.
“We get fantastic feedback about all of our bands, but it’s the accordionists who get the most comments,” said Zoa Musick, one of the operators of the family-owned German restaurant.
“We decided to give the people more of what they want with this first event and help out an organization we believe in at the same time,” Musick said.
