The Pismo Beach woman killed in a head-on crash

Friday has been identified as 58-year-old Francheska Rubin.

A spokeswoman for Lady Family Mortuary in Arroyo Grande, where funeral arrangements are being made, confirmed Saturday afternoon that Rubin was the woman who died in the accident.

The CHP did not release her name or the identity of three other drivers involved in the four-vehicle crash.

One of them, an 18-year-old San Luis Obispo man, was booked into County Jail on Friday night on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, according to CHP Officer Doug Villers.

Authorities arrested the 18-year-old based on witness statements given to investigators after the crash, according to Villers. Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

The fatal collision happened about 5 p. m. Friday on Price Canyon Road about a mile from Highway 227.

The 18-year-old was driving east in a 2007 Audi RS4 sedan and was looking out his left window when he drifted into the oncoming lane, the CHP said. The Audi hit Rubin’s Toyota Avalon head-on, pushing it to the side of the road, the CHP said.

Rubin was taken to French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, where she died, according to the CHP. The 18-year-old was taken to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and then to jail.

The driver of an SUV was injured and taken to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital.
