Senate Bill 492: School loitering and gang activity
Increases penalties for registered gang members who are caught illegally loitering on school grounds, written in response to an increase in gang-related crimes on and around school campuses. In Salinas, for example, five people were murdered in gang-related killings over a three-day period in January. Two of the victims were high school students, and one was shot on school grounds.
Senate Bill 571: Geothermal well operations
Allows the state to deny a permit for expanded geothermal well operations if the operator has existing wells that are out of compliance with regulations or has failed to pay fines or fees.
AB 43: California Earthquake Authority mitigation program
Provides the California Earthquake Authority with more flexibility in its hiring practices and enables it to fill a new position of chief mitigation officer. Combined changes will help the Earthquake Authority to prioritize mitigation to protect homeowners from damages resulting from major earthquakes.
AB 45: Small wind ordinance
Encourages development of small wind systems while protecting private property rights. Creates a model for local governments to adopt when drafting wind ordinances in rural areas.
AB 825: Crab fishing
Eliminates prohibition on having two species of crab on board fishing boats simultaneously.
AB 1351: Out-of-state hydroelectric energy

ACR 35: Hepatitis awareness
