Prosecutor: Arkansas school shooter not mistreated in jail

The Associated Press

A prosecutor says there's no evidence that one of two Arkansas men who killed a teacher and four students in a school shooting a decade ago has been mistreated while in jail on separate charges.

Twenty-three-year-old Mitchell Johnson has complained he was attacked by other inmates at the Benton County Jail while awaiting trial on charges he took a debit card left by a disabled man at a gas station where Johnson worked.

Prosecutor Shane Wilkinson says a sheriff's office investigation found no evidence of abuse in jail.

In 1998, a then 13-year-old Johnson and an 11-year-old were arrested in the shooting deaths at Westside Middle School and held in juvenile custody until they turned 21.
