Bill Borgsmiller, 31, has been passionate about flying all his life.
“My first flying lesson was when I was 7,” he said. “That was after two years of bugging my dad.”
Originally from Red Bluff, Calif., he earned a degree in aviation business from Embry-Riddel Aeronautical University in Arizona, then moved to San Luis Obispo in 1999 to start a jet charter service. As CEO of Aviation Consultants Inc., he manages 60 people, nine jets and ground support services for the commercial airlines at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport.
“Bill inspires people to try harder and instills a sense of confidence that anything is possible,” said employee Nathan Ross.
Borgsmiller and his staff share their office with Emilia, an African gray parrot who can be found at one of three perches or occasionally flying around an empty hangar. ACI sponsors several local charities, donates flights to charities such as Dream for Kids, Special Olympics and Starkey Hearing Foundation. He and his wife, Alison, are expecting a baby girl in April.
