United Way of SLO County announces new board members

United Way of San Luis Obispo County recently elected its local, volunteer leadership board for the 2014-15 year.

United Way Board officers include president Alexis Okumura, owner of Alexis Interiors; vice president of community impact Dena Bellman, parks and recreation specialist at the Oceano Dunes District of State Parks; secretary Debbie Lewis, a retired principal; and treasurer Ryan Caldwell, partner and wealth adviser at RE Wacker Wealth Partners.

New members include Ashlee Akers, vice president of client services at Verdin; Leila Assal, Arroyo Grande High School student and United Way Youth Board president; Joyce Miklik, physician relation manager at Tenet Healthcare; and Brian Reynolds, retired director of San Luis Obispo County Libraries.

They will join continuing board members Marian Anderson, vice president and senior relationship manager at Union Bank; Carla Berkefeld, CPA at Glenn Burdette; Laurent Bernad, analytical services manager at Promega Biosciences, Inc.; Penny Borenstein, health officer at San Luis Obispo County Public Health Services; Kathleen Choal, president and general manager at KSBY; Courtney Kienow, marketing director at Carmel & Naccasha, LLP; Christine Johnson, Morro Bay City Council member; John Lindsey, corporate relations representative and meteorologist at PG&E; and Ian Parkinson, San Luis Obispo County sheriff and coroner.

Directors emeriti include community volunteers Frank Fertschneider and Thomas Sullivan.
