The Santa Barbara County Fair is held at the Santa Maria Fairpark, 937 S. Thornburg St.

The 123rd annual Santa Barbara County Fair starts Wednesday and runs through Sunday in Santa Maria.

With the theme “Blue Ribbon Memories,” this year’s event offers concerts, carnival rides, an array of food, daily performances by local musicians and dancers, and a destruction derby on Saturday night, according to organizers.

New attractions include a Nascar simulator — an actual race car that has been modified with a computer simulation — daily sea lion shows and an exhibit on Egypt featuring animals.

The fair is held at the Santa Maria Fairpark, 937 S. Thornburg St. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Admission is $7 for children ages 6 to 11 years old, $10 for those ages 12 to 61 years old, and $7 for adults ages 62 and older.

Admission and carnival rides are only $1 each on opening day; senior day is Thursday, with admission $1 all day. For more information, go to www.santamariafairpark.com.
