A 60-home subdivision with a distinctive name is taking shape in San Miguel.

Jazzy Town, a development by CS Nino Building Corp., is headed by Templeton businessman Steve Nino.

“The project is named after the owner-developer's daughter who is very spirited and spunky — you can't help but smile when you say it,” company marketing representative Karen Palmer said of 14-year-old Jessi Nino, whose nickname is “Jazzy.”

The first homes in the project, located off River Road and Verde Place, are expected to begin construction in July. The first phase extends to 2015.

The neighborhood will be built with eight different floor plans ranging from 1,270 to 1,805 square feet for three- and four-bedroom homes with prices starting under $300,000.

The architecture, designed by Dezigns to a "T" Inc. architect Tammy Jackson in Hollister, is described as a traditional style with a “contemporary California flair,” Palmer said.

The project’s engineer is Tim Roberts from Roberts Engineering in Templeton.

Public improvements made to the site have totaled $2.5 million so far, Palmer said, and have included neighborhood infrastructure such as streets, sidewalks and water and sewer lines. A park is also under construction.

Nino has also developed Gracie's Grove, a community of four-bedroom homes in Paso Robles that were built and sold between 2012 and 2014, as well as development of 12 townhomes in Atascadero called Sycamore Place under construction now. Gracie is Nino’s daughter.

The Templeton family also has two sons.
