Thinking caps

AtascaderoJune 26, 2014

I hope The Tribune readers had their critical thinking caps on June 25, as they read two articles in your newspaper. On Page A5, we were told climate change will cost the United States billions of dollars, mainly from the effects of rising temperatures.

On Page S4, we were told not to worry about the U.S. economy shrinking 2 percent in the first quarter, because that was caused by the blast of Arctic chill and snow that covered most of our country. So as a taxpayer, I can expect to pay more in taxes to battle the warmer temperatures as I experience fewer job opportunities thanks to the cold weather. I guess that makes sense?

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
