Honor the victims

NipomoJune 25, 2014

In regards to the well-written article in the June 22 issue of The Tribune, front page, about the tragedy in Isla Vista, I agree with and feel empathy for the families of the three young men.

Our society applauds the killers and known criminals. As one father said, it is broken and only by shining a bright light on the need to value the victim and shame the evildoers can it possibly change. Why interview the father of the killer? Because he has some kind of answer to senseless violence, or more finger-pointing?

Our society’s attitudes toward the mentally ill is a discussion for another time. Honor and value all the victims of this tragedy and their families — remember.

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news.
