A performing group with the United Service Organizations was at Camp Roberts this week for the first time in nearly two decades to help boost the morale of the 5,000 California Army National Guard soldiers conducting their annual training there, said Capt. Will Martin, California National Guard public affairs officer.

The training event ends Sunday at the base near San Miguel.

The USO was at Camp Roberts on Wednesday and Thursday as part of the nonprofit organization’s two-month tour of several military installations across the western United States

A motorcycle demonstration, a traditional troupe show and sports competitions against celebrities, athletes and cheerleaders were all part of the USO’s performances at the camp.
