Here's the approximate location of Wednesday's crash.

A motorcyclist killed in Cayucos on Wednesday has been identified as Kenneth Kirtley, 63, of Los Osos.

Kirtley was driving northbound on Highway 1 near San Geronimo Road around 11:47 a.m. when his 2003 Yamaha Road Star slammed into the back of a 2014 Ford Mustang, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Mustang, a 31-year-old resident of England, was waiting to turn into an oceanview lookout parking area when Kirtley’s motorcycle crashed into the car.

Kirtley, who was thrown off the motorcycle, died at the scene.

Neither drugs nor high speed was believed to be involved, according to the CHP. Kirtley had been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Mustang driver and his 27-year-old passenger, also from England, were uninjured.
