Cal Poly baseball players earn regional honors

Cal Poly sophomore second baseman Mathias, the Big West Conference Field Player of the Year, was named to Baseball American’s second team and to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association third team.

Cal Poly sophomore second baseman Mark Mathias and four other Mustangs have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-West Region teams.

Mathias is a first-team selection on the team after helping lead the Mustangs to their first Big West Conference title and a home regional in the NCAA Tournament.

Junior right fielder Nick Torres, senior catcher Chris Hoo, junior pitcher Matt Imhof and sophomore pitcher Casey Bloomquist were all named to the second team.
