UPDATE 7:15 p.m.: A 19-year-old man from Los Osos was killed Wednesday afternoon on South Bay Boulevard when he was hit head-on by another car driving in the wrong lane, according to the CHP.

The Los Osos driver was in a two-door Chevrolet Cavalier heading south near Turri Road when a four-door black Dodge Charger driving north in the southbound lane collided with him, said CHP Sgt. Don Coats.

The crash left the Cavalier in a twisted wreck and sent the Charger into a roll. The Charger came to rest when it hit a Ford Ranger that had pulled to the side of the southbound lane as the collision occurred ahead.

Emergency workers pronounced the Los Osos man dead after removing him from the vehicle and attempting lifesaving procedures.

The driver of the Charger was able to remove himself from the car and was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo. The driver of the Ford Ranger was uninjured. None of the cars had any passengers.

The identity of the Los Osos man was unknown Wednesday night.

UPDATE 6:50 p.m.: A CalFire official confirmed that one person was dead, one person was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center with major injuries and a third person had minor injuries in the three-car crash on South Bay Boulevard.

UPDATE 6:10 p.m.: South Bay Boulevard is closed between Turri Road and Santa Ysabel Avenue after the three-vehicle crash.

A Dodge sedan, Chevrolet sedan and a Ford pickup were involved in the accident.

Crews from Cal Fire, Morro Bay Fire Department, the CHP and San Luis Ambulance have responded to the scene.

Original story: A driver of a car that flipped over and landed on its roof on South Bay Boulevard in Los Osos just after 5 p.m. Wednesday is being taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.

The accident, involving up to three cars on South Bay Boulevard near Turri Road, has stopped all traffic.

Initial reports were made to the California Highway Patrol of a car driving erratically shortly before the accident, according to the CHP’s traffic website.
