Local bridge clubs to raise money for Alzheimer’s research

Local bridge clubs will participate in a card-playing marathon Saturday in support of Alzheimer’s disease research.

Organized by the American Contract Bridge League, the sunrise-to-sunset event is one of a number of “The Longest Day” fundraisers being held around the nation to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. All bridge-related activities, including lessons and games, are free and open to the public thanks to an anonymous donor, local event organizer Gina Kirk said.

Her team, “SLO Bridge to Remember,” hopes to raise $15,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The fun kicks off at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Senior Center, 1445 Santa Rosa St. in San Luis Obispo.
