Letter to the Editor

Sad state of affairs

Paso RoblesJune 9, 2014

On May 21, 2013, the chairman of the House Veterans Affairs committee penned a letter to President Barack Obama, with a copy to then-VA Secretary Eric Shinseki, to “bring to your attention an alarming pattern of serious and significant patient care issues at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMC) across the country.”

The two-page letter also says “recent events at the Atlanta, Georgia, VAMC provide a perfect illustration of the management failures, deception and lack of accountability permeating VA’s health care system.”

The White House spokesman Jay Carney claims that both President Obama and Shinseki discovered the problems at the VA through recent news reports. What can be learned about the integrity of the Obama administration from Carney’s false claims. Do you even care?
