Here is this week’s weather forecast by PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey.
A 1,004-millibar surface low is predicted to develop over the Central Coast today and remain nearly stationary through Wednesday.
This low-pressure system should produce gentle to moderate (8- to 18-mph) west-southwesterly winds, cooler temperatures, extensive night and morning marine low clouds, fog and drizzle.
Today’s high temperatures are projected to hit the mid-90s in the North County and the high 70s in the coastal valleys. The beaches are projected to range between the mid-50s to the mid-60s.
Increasing northwesterly winds are forecast to develop along the coastline Thursday through Sunday. These winds should mix out the temperature inversion layer during the afternoon hours, which would produce a lot more sunshine along the beaches.
Today’s 4- to 6-foot northwesterly (315-degree, deep-water) sea and swell (with a 5- to 11-second period) is projected to remain at this height and period through tonight.
A 5- to 7-foot northwesterly (315-degree, deep-water) swell (with an 8- to 11-second period) is forecast to develop along our coastline Tuesday and will remain at this level through Wednesday.
Increasing northwesterly winds are forecast to generate 4- to 6-foot northwesterly (320-degree, deep-water) sea and swell (with a 4- to 9-second period) along our coastline Thursday through Friday. This northwesterly sea and swell is forecast to further increase to 6 to 8 feet (with a 5- to 8-second period) on Saturday through Sunday.
Arriving from the Southern Hemisphere:
Today’s 1- to 2-foot Southern Hemisphere (210-degree, deep-water) swell (with a 16- to
18-second period) is forecast to continue at this level through Tuesday.
Seawater temperatures should range from 51 to 54 degrees through tonight, increasing to 52 and 55 degrees on Tuesday through Thursday. Seawater temperatures should decrease Friday through Sunday.
