SLO Blues, North County Indians win summer collegiate baseball games

The  San Luis Obispo Blues scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday to defeat the Walnut Creek Crawdads 9-5 in a summer collegiate baseball game.

The game was a sea-saw affair. Walnut Creek led 4-3 in the sixth inning, only to see the Blues tie at 4. The Crawdads took a 5-4 lead in the top of the eighth before the Blues responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning to win and improve their record to 9-2.

Connor O’Hare and Jacob Hoyle combined to score three times for the Blues, and Hoyle had a pair of triples.

San Luis Obispo also took advantage of eight hit batters.

North County picks up its first victory

The North County Indians jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and cruised to an 8-2 summer collegiate baseball win over the Santa Maria Reds at Paso Robles High.

Jamie Good struck out four Reds and allowed five hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings in earning the win.

Ben Polshuk had a triple and a double for the Indians (1-4), and David Casciola also had two hits and four RBI to lead the 10-hit attack.

Mac Stuart and Corbin Meikle both had doubles for North County.
