Season ends for SLO boys tennis duo

The San Luis Obispo High boys tennis team’s season ended Friday in Seal Beach, where the doubles team of Mason Hansen and Josh Milla was eliminated in the round of 16 in the CIF-Southern Section individual championships.

The Tigers fell 6-4, 6-0 to the top-ranked pairing of Eric Pseng and Arash Hefezi of University.

“It’s a tough loss, but I’ve got to give credit to University,” San Luis Obispo coach Ken Peet said. “I don’t think they made an unforced error the entire second set.”

Hansen and Milla came out playing “the best tennis they played all year” in the first set, Peet said, but couldn’t capitalize on a number of break points and were eventually broken in the last game.

University’s momentum carried over into the second set, and the rest was history.

“It’s only the second doubles team in my 31 years to make it to the final 16,” Peet said. “It was a great year.”
