Two Lucia Mar Unified School District elementary schools will have new principals in the upcoming school year.

Carol Littlefield-Halfman will head up Fairgrove Elementary School in Grover Beach, and Peter Ponomaroff will lead Harloe Elementary School in Arroyo Grande, according to Lucia Mar Superintendent Jim Hogeboom.

Littlefield-Halfman, a former math teacher at Judkins Middle School, is currently serving as an executive master teacher for the district overseeing a teacher training and evaluation program called the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP).

She will succeed current Fairgrove Elementary Principal Lara Storm, who will become principal at Monarch Grove Elementary School in Los Osos, in the San Luis Coastal Unified School District.

Ponomaroff, a former elementary teacher at Fairgrove and Oceano elementary schools, has been assistant principal at Paulding Middle School for the last two years.

He will replace Harloe Elementary Principal Jim Empey, who will become the director of elementary education for Lucia Mar.
