The electricity went out at Cal Poly for about a half-hour this afternoon, but it's back on and university officials are looking into the cause.

The power went out at 2:45 p.m. and came back on at 3:20 p.m., said Cal Poly spokesman Matt Lazier.

All campus buildings were affected except for housing units.

The university is investigating the cause, speculating it may have been a power surge that prompted a shutdown as a precaution, Lazier said.

“That’s just preliminary,” Lazier said in an email. “They’re still looking into what might have happened.”
