Sophomore Mireles wins Bronco tennis MVP award

Entire tennis team chosen for Coach’s Award for their enthusiasm; baseball MVP is Godinez

Winners of Coast Union High School spring sports awards for the baseball and tennis teams were recently announced.

Coast Union boys tennis coach Shannon Jackson presented sophomore Alexis Mireles the Most Valuable Player and Best Singles Player awards. Luis Fernandez and Roberto Quintero were named Best Doubles Team, and Quintero was recognized as having played “the most entertaining match of the season,” according to Jackson.

Jimmy Welsh was acknowledged as the player with the Most Potential and the entire team received the Coach’s Award for enthusiasm and dedication to their training.

The baseball coaches named Emmany Godinez Most Valuable Player; Grant Magnuson was named Outstanding Pitcher; Quinten Raethke was named Outstanding Hitter; and Jake McAvoy was given the Most Improved award.

For the Coast softball team, Ellie Magnuson was named MVP; Cristina Placensia earned the Defensive Player of the Year title; Patty Bucio was chosen as Offensive Player of the Year; and Ashley Martinez won the Kim Kinney Award.
