Gruetzmacher leads Cuesta swimming honors

Atascadero High graduate Rachel Gruetzmacher earned eight California Community College Swim Coaches Association All-American honors Tuesday, and four teammates from the Cuesta College women’s swim team were also selected.

Gruetzmacher was honored for setting Cuesta records in the 50-yard freestyle (23.61 seconds), the 100 freestyle (52.17), the 50 butterfly (26.19) and the 100 butterfly (58.48) in addition to being acknowledged in four relays.

Karissa Sternfels was honored for setting the Cougars’ record in the 50 breaststroke (31.17). Gruetzmacher, Sternfels, Haylee Mariucci and Amanda Novick received honors for both the 200 and the 400 freestyle relays. Gruetzmacher, Sternfels, Mariucci and Molly Casey were honored for the 200 and the 400 medley relays.
