Coast Union wins in baseball playoffs

Tommy Moreno drove in five runs to lead the Coast Union High baseball team to a 14-0 CIF-Southern Section Division 7 first-round home playoff win over New Roads on Friday.

Moreno finished 3 for 4 with two doubles and a triple.

Tommy Howard and Quinten Raethke were both 2 for 4 for the Broncos (17-4). Howard doubled and scored and Raethke hit a triple, single and had two RBI.

Grant Magnuson pitched into the sixth inning for Coast Union, holding New Roads to two hits and striking out six.

The Broncos will play Desert Chapel or St. Monica on Tuesday.
