A cut above

NipomoMay 21, 2014

I have paid very close attention to the work of Supervisor Caren Ray since her first day in office. She has an impressive record of responsive community engagement, effective leadership and resounding results on the key issues important to me such as water scarcity, public safety and natural and cultural resource protection.

It is refreshing to see a representative who actively listens, eagerly researches issues and builds consensus to achieve results. She exudes a bright, positive and energetic quality of character that reflects her prior experience as a veteran teacher as well as the real-world savvy from nearly 10 years of prior local government experience.

This experience is essential for effective management of a $500 million county budget and for informed decision-making within the complex world of land-use planning. Supervisor Ray is head and shoulders above her opponents, neither of whom has any prior experience in holding public office. The Tribune was correct to endorse her; I will vote to keep her in office.

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
