Support for vision

Morro BayMay 21, 2014

With the Morro Bay mayoral election only two weeks away, I’d like to reflect on the progress Morro Bay residents have seen since the last mayoral election.

In only two years, Jamie Irons has accomplished the following: He has been accessible to all interest groups in our city, and as a result he has refined and expanded his vision for the residents and businesses of the city. He understood the environmental, economic and political infeasibility of applying to the Coastal Commission to re-authorize the wastewater treatment plant at its current site.

He implemented an inclusive process that identified acceptable wastewater treatment sites, and he championed the thorough evaluation of new sites. He has been a lightning rod, leading to the interim hiring of a very productive city attorney and city manager. He is quickly responding to the city’s need to identify and commit to additional, long-term sources of drinking water.

Two years ago, he presented to the electorate his vision for our city. He has earned my admiration and support. Thus, I enthusiastically will vote for Jamie Irons to provide him another two years to continue to implement his/our vision for our community.
